Engineering and Warranty Manager

Lead, manage and mentor a team of 7 to contribute to the overall growth and profitability of Palmer Hamilton. Provide strategic input and oversight to the development and execution of Palmer Hamilton’s product road map.

Position Objective:  Lead, manage and mentor a team of 7 to contribute to the overall growth and profitability of Palmer Hamilton. Provide strategic input and oversight to the development and execution of Palmer Hamilton’s product road map.  Lead the development of new products and improvement of existing product designs through competent engineering judgment and analytics. Lead our engineering and warranty teams through all phases of new product design and existing product design improvements, mitigating warranty expenses. Position Functions:

  • Provide day to day direction to the Engineering and Warranty team (3 direct reports and 4 additional indirect reports), aligning efforts to achieve annual strategic business goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the implementation and ongoing progress of product improvements or launch of new products, managing projects to established timelines and ensuring the team is following outlined new product launch procedures
  • Champion collaboration with various business functions to take products through the development process, from concept through design, prototyping, costing, investment, testing, and implementation. Collaboration includes ensuring manufacturing readiness for successful product launches.
  • Thoroughly understand and track key performance indicators associated with the Warranty/Service department, improving end user experience whenever possible
  • Ensure products maintain all required industry certifications, and annualized testing
  • Monitor product costs and margins, validating products meets margin expectations.
  • Provide strategic feedback on project prioritization to business leadership, understanding which projects provide the greatest amount of economic profit to the business.

Qualifications:

  • BS in a related Engineering field and 10+ year’s related experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of full-time leadership experience in a manufacturing or engineering management environment.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, team player and ability to multi-task required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Fundamental understanding of CRM tools (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Preferred)
  • Proficient with manufacturing related ERP/MRP systems, BOMs and product costing
  • Good understanding of metal and wood product fabrication and design for manufacturability (milling, bending, forming, punching, cutting, welding, paint, and assembly).
